The Classes
The Socially Savvy with Ms. Lisa virtual classroom provides the social skills, awareness, and emotional literacy your child may have missed while remote-learning. Our small class sizes provide an intimate and personalized learning environment, yet also allows you the opportunity to create a community of peers with whom to practice and reinforce the weekly skills lessons. Each class includes individualized greetings, a feelings check-in and opportunities to share, followed by a memorable socially savvy lesson. My puppet friends and I will share stories and games rich with social situations, emotional identifying, and self-regulating skills. We often make time for music to dance and move our bodies, helping to reinforce the learning process. Children are encouraged to explore their biggest feelings and feel validated in their expression. Along the way I will be here to support you, the parent, with regular check-ins, as you guide your child in the most empathetic and positive way possible.
I know juggling your home, work, and social life while somehow also providing your children with meaningful social interactions is overwhelming. It is really hard. I want to make things easier for you and better for your amazing child. Below are a variety of class options, easily tailored to ages, abilities, and availability.
Most classes are parent/caretaker participatory. You and your child will learn the skills together and practice with fidelity throughout the week. I encourage you to register with friends, relatives, or neighbors when possible. Not only do you need a support system, but social skills are better learned and reinforced when more people share the experience. The class sizes are limited for both quality assurance and a more personalized experience, but exceptions can be made if you prefer.
Class Structure
Classes are offered on the Zoom platform. Invites are generated on the day of class.
Each class begins with cheerful, energizing music, followed by greetings and an activity based on our skill of the day. Class always includes one of my favorite relevant stories from an amazing, inspired author. Children can expect one of many puppet friends to drop in and share in the class. Organic conversations are welcome and encouraged. We close with bubble fun, music, smiles and well wishes!
Zoom
Zoom invitations to class will be provided the day of class.
